Our Apostolic Beliefs in Marianna, FL

Our unwavering commitment to the Apostolic doctrine of new birth is a testament to the power of repentance, baptism, and the Holy Ghost. As we follow the Bible’s standard of full salvation, we are inspired by the evidence of speaking in tongues as the Spirit gives utterance. Let us continue to embrace this life-changing doctrine with faith and fervor (Acts 2:4,38; John 3:5).

The Word of God

We believe that the Bible is the direct and absolute Word of God (II Timothy 3:16). We hold that it was given to us by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit as it moved upon the tongues and pens of men who had received the special anointing of God for this express purpose (II Peter 1:21). The Bible is God’s means of doctrine, instruction, and comfort to the Church today. It is infallible in its authority, singular in interpretation, and man’s only avenue of access to God.

THE ONE TRUE GOD

We believe in one ever-living, eternal God who is infinite in power, holy in nature, attributes, and purpose, and possesses absolute, indivisible Deity. This one true God has revealed Himself as the Father in creation, through the Son in redemption, and as the Holy Ghost by emanation (1 Corinthians 8:6; Ephesians 4:6; 2 Corinthians 5:19; Joel 2:28). The Bible doesn’t just attempt to prove the existence of God, but it asserts, assumes, and declares that the knowledge of God is universal (Romans 1:19, 21, 28, 32; 2:15). God is invisible, incorporeal, without parts, without body, and therefore free from all limitations. He is Spirit (John 4:24), and “a spirit hath not flesh and bones…” (Luke 24:39). The first of all commandments is, “Hear, O Israel: the LORD our God is one LORD” (Mark 12:29; Deuteronomy 6:4). “One God and Father of all, who is above all and through all and in you all” (Ephesians 4:6). This one true God manifested Himself in the Old Testament in diverse ways, i.e., in the Son while He walked among men, and as the Holy Ghost after the ascension.

THE SON OF GOD

The one true God, Jehovah, revealed himself in human form as the Son of man, born through the virgin Mary. According to Paul, “God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory” (I Timothy 3:16; John 1:10). Despite his arrival, He was rejected by his own people (John 1:11). God became tangible through His Son, Jesus Christ. The Bible tells us that “God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them” (II Corinthians 5:19). We believe that “in Him (Jesus) dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily” (Colossians 2:9).

THE Name

The prophecy of Isaiah stated that a child would be born to us, and he will be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. This prophecy came true when the Son of God was named Jesus, and it was said that he will save his people from their sins. According to Acts 4:12, there is no salvation in any other name under heaven given among men, and we must be saved through Jesus.

MAN AND HIS FALL

In Genesis 1:26,27, it is said that God created man in His own image – innocent, pure and holy as mentioned in Romans 5:11 and Ephesians 2:3. However, man needed a redeemer who was provided in the form of the seed of the woman. This seed would bruise the head of the serpent, as mentioned in Genesis 3:15 and fulfilled by Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who is the source of our redemption through His blood, as stated in Ephesians 1:7 and Revelation 1:5.

DIVINE HEALING

The physical suffering of Jesus Christ purchased healing for our bodies, just as His death, burial, and resurrection provided for the salvation of our souls. As it is written, “with his stripes we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5) and “He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses” (Matthew 8:17). This means that healing for the body is included in the atonement and available to all who believe. In fact, Jesus promised that believers would lay hands on the sick and they would recover. James also instructed the church to call on the elders to pray and anoint the sick with oil in the name of the Lord. The prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up, and if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven him. Therefore, we should confess our faults to one another and pray for each other, so that we may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous person avails much (James 5:14-16).

The Gospel

The saving gospel is the good news that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and rose again. To obey the gospel (II Thessalonians 1:8; I Peter 4:17), we need to go through three steps: repentance (death to sin), water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ (burial), and the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the initial sign of speaking in tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance (resurrection). These steps are supported by the following biblical references: I Corinthians 15:1-4; Acts 2:4, 37-39; Romans 6:3-4.

The Grace of God

“For the grace of God which brings salvation has appeared to all people, teaching us that we should deny ungodliness and worldly desires, and live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present age.” (Titus 2:11-12) “The law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” (John 1:17) To maintain salvation, a Christian must walk with God and keep themselves in the love and grace of God (Jude 21). The word “grace” means “favor.” When a person sins against God, they lose favor. If they continue to sin and do not repent, they will ultimately be lost and cast into the lake of fire (John 15:1, 6; 2 Peter 2:20-22). Jude speaks of the backsliders of his day and their fate (Hebrews 6:4-6). “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.” (Ephesians 2:8)

REPENTANCE AND REMISSION OF SIN

The only way for a sinner to be accepted by God is through sincere repentance from the heart for the sins committed. God does not despise a heart that is broken and contrite, as mentioned in Psalm 51:17. Repentance was preached by John and proclaimed by Jesus, who also commanded that it should be preached in His name, starting from Jerusalem, before His ascension, as stated in Luke 24:47. Peter fulfilled this command on the day of Pentecost, as shown in Acts 2:38.

Water Baptism

Baptism, according to scripture, must be done through immersion. It is only for those who have repented completely and turned away from their sins and love for the world. The sacrament should be administered by a minister of the Gospel who is authorized in accordance with the Word of God and in the name of Jesus Christ. This is done according to the Acts of the Apostles: 2:38; 8:16; 10:48; 19:5, fulfilling the command given in Matthew 28:19.

HOLY SPIRIT BAPTISM

In Matthew 3:11, John the Baptist stated that Jesus would baptize people with the Holy Ghost. In Acts 1:5, Jesus also mentioned that people would be baptized with the Holy Ghost in a few days. According to Luke in Acts 2:4, the disciples were filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak in different languages as the Spirit enabled them to do so. In the Bible, the expressions “baptized with the Holy Ghost,” “filled with the Holy Ghost,” and the “gift of the Holy Ghost” are all equivalent phrases that can be used interchangeably.

APOSTOLIC DOCTRINE OF NEW BIRTH

The basic and fundamental doctrine of this Organization shall be the Bible standard of full salvation, which is repentance, baptism in water by immersion in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and the baptism of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance (Acts 2:4,38; John 3:5).
